Selected rate: Bangladesh VAT 15% · Checked 2026-09-15 · official source
NBR states a 15% standard rate; exports are zero-rated and turnover tax or exemptions may follow different rules. This is an estimate, not tax advice. Your transaction may be zero-rated or exempt, and IP location does not determine tax liability.

How Bangladesh VAT is calculated

For a standard taxable supply, add 15% VAT to the amount before VAT. To estimate VAT included in a total price, divide the total by 1.15 to find the amount before VAT, then subtract it from the total.

Add VAT

Net amount × 1.15 = total including VAT

Remove VAT

Gross amount ÷ 1.15 = amount before VAT

Important Bangladesh VAT limitations

NBR distinguishes the standard VAT rate from exports, turnover tax and exempt supplies. This calculator does not determine registration thresholds, supply classification, input-tax credit or supplementary duty.

Use the result as a planning estimate and verify the applicable treatment with the National Board of Revenue VAT FAQ before issuing an invoice or filing a return.

Frequently asked questions

What VAT rate does this Bangladesh calculator use?

It starts with Bangladesh's standard VAT rate of 15% stated by the National Board of Revenue. Exports, turnover tax and exempt supplies can follow different rules.

How do I remove VAT from an inclusive BDT price?

Divide the VAT-inclusive amount by 1.15 to estimate the amount before VAT, then subtract that amount from the total.

Does 15% apply to every business or supply?

No. NBR describes turnover-tax, zero-rated and exempt cases. This calculator is for a standard-rate estimate and does not determine your registration or supply treatment.
